A1 EAMS Letters: Display & Functionality Problem 150%

Dear Michael,

Thanks again for your previous help.

We are still trying to deal with an issue: Areas of the EAMS document being unclickable/unable to print/unable to save

1. System Settings:

Computer OS: Windows 7 64-bit Professional

Monitors: 17-20" wide-screen monitors

Monitor Resoultion setting: 1600 x 900 (native)

Display setting: Set to 150% (Reason: Display is otherwise too-small/hard to read/looks strange)

Software: Adobe Acrobat Standard Edition

2. Issues:

A. Saving: Can't click on the red "Save to File" button

Workaround: No workaround found.

B. Printing:

(1) "Print" when you attempt to do File - Print is Greyed out.

(2) Adobe Print button unclickable

Workaround: See below*

C. Clicking on/Filling in Documentation*

*Here's the strange thing: The top 1/2 of the Adobe screen is mostly-unclickable. You can't Click on the red "Save to File", Print, or move the side bar. However you can work on anything if you center it in the bottom 1/2 of the screen. Here you can also Right-Click on any open white area in the document and select Print.

Working this way would make for a temporary Workaround - However since the red "Save to File" button is at the top of the screen - We can't click it in this setup. Unable to Save the document = This Workaround won't work.

Currently in order to Work on/Save/Print these we have to switch the Display to 100% - Logout/On - and Work on those EAMS Documents... and then return to Display 150% to continue our work.

I think there may be something with how the files are imbedded in A1, attempting to work on the original files (http://www.dir.ca.gov/dwc/forms.html) at the 150% display setting does not have this issue.

-Is there anything else we can do?

Thank you very much!
Sincerely,

The Display Setting at 150% is the problem but there might be a workaround. In Windows where you change the font size, try clicking the SET CUSTOM TEXT SIZE DPI and then make sure the checkbox "Use Windows XP Style DPI Scaling" is checked.

Dear Michael,

Thanks for the update.

Tried the Workaround. This is found in Windows 7:
Control Panel - Appearance and Customization - Display - Click on "Set Custom text size (DPI)"
In the Custom DPI Setting (window) - Click to check the box "Use Window XP Style DPI Scaling." - Then in Display Click on Apply - Need to Logoff/On.

With this setup:
1. EAMS is larger and works properly
2. The Main Icons on the Desktop are larger
3. A1 is a Mixed-bag. Some things are at the 150% setting - Others are are size comparible to the 100% setting.

For example the following are smaller: Main Menu, Case Card, Case Activity.
Larger: Tasks
Some A1 Window titles are larger.

Not sure if this will work. Will talk with the staff and see what they think.

By the way the question came up: Is there a reason that the original documents from http://www.dir.ca.gov/dwc/forms.html work at the 150% setting but they don't work properly in A1 at the 150% setting?

Thanks again!

I can't think of any reason why. Please make SURE you have the updates for Acrobat Reader (click help, check for updates in Acrobat Reader). The other option (probably a better option) would be to set it at 100% and just use the screen resolution settings instead to make everything smaller or larger..

Dear Michael,

Still having problems with the 150% Display Setting with A1-EAMS letters.

However, A1-EAMS letters are stable at the 125% Display Setting.

The other option would be to just change the screen resolution and leave the Display Setting at 100%. The screen resolution would be the simplest and quickest fix.
