Moving A-1 from SBS2003 to SBS 2008 new server

Hi - this is Jim Clark their IT consultant. We are now 6 days from making the move to our new server. I'd like to get any hints - tidbits you can offer to make it a smooth transition.

a) Is there any concern about running your software in a 64bit environment?
b) Can you provide me guidance on
1) Installing the program on the new server
2) How best to move the data folders over

A. No issues in running 64 bit.
B1. Run A1Setup on the new server and map A1-Law to the new A1Law folder so that it can run on the file server if it ever needed to. Is A1Comm or A1Sync running on the file server? If so then this will need to be set up.
B2. Make sure everyone is out of A1-Law. Restart the old server (so as to close all files). Copy the entire A1Law folder to the new server and make sure the drive mappings are the same.

Is A1COMM running = YES. So please be so kind as to fill me in on that install as well.

When you say run A1SETUP is that the one in the A1 folder on the server? Sorry if that sounds silly - but I have not seen a self-contained application in a folder (and not in \program files) since my DOS 3.1 days.

I am preparing the server today - I will be doing the install on Saturday. Any chance of having phone access in case of dire emergency?

A1Setup is to be installed on all workstations and the server for programs that run on the server. You may download the most recent version here and save in the A1Law folder: http://www.appellsoftware.com/A1Setup.zip

Please Email appell@appellsoftware.com Saturday if you need support or post to the support forum.

Thanks,
Mike
