A1-Outlook Messages - Questions

#1

Post by LMSSC » Mon Oct 18, 2010 3:48 pm

Dear Michael,

We are currently doing some testing of A1 --> Outlook

(Settings can be found at:
Tools - System - Configure the System - Configure System Defaults - General - Email (tab) - Microsoft Outlook (tab))

1. If you had all cases to default to Post to Main Case activity for "Category to Post to" - Would you just put in "1" to default to Main Case Activity - or "*1" (with the asterisk) or "*-1" (asterisk - dash - 1)?

2. Can you Post to different areas for different types of cases? So if I had "W-1,P-5,S-2" it would post for Worker's comp cases to Case Activity #1, PI to Case Activity #5, and Social Security to Case Activity #2?

3. When you pull information from/into Outlook - It always has the double set of "A program is trying to access e-mail addresses you have stored in Outlook. Do you want to allow this?" messages. Is there a way to disable this Just for interaction with A1?

Possible related info:
http://www.add-in-express.com/docs/outl ... addins.php
http://www.ablebits.com/programming-out ... /index.php

4. When you receive a message sent out from A1 setup through Outlook - When you receive it - You cannot view a Preview due to "This item contains active content that cannot be displayed in the preview pane. Open the item to read it's contents."

What is the active content?

Thanks again!
Sincerely,

This is correct: So if I had "W-1,P-5,S-2"

So you could enter W-1,P-5,S-1 (where both work comp and social security post to #1).

You can disable the Outlook Security with a free program called ClickYes. Email me and I'll send it to you. Check with your IT consultant for details on Outlook Security.

Thanks for the answers Michael!

So what would I do for Situation #1?

1. If you had all cases to default to Post to Main Case activity for "Category to Post to" - Would you just put in "1" to default to Main Case Activity - or "*1" (with the asterisk) or "*-1" (asterisk - dash - 1)?

I think it defaults to #1 automatically if it is left blank but I would have to check and possibly update if you want all cases to default to some other number then I would have to possibly add a feature for that.

Thanks,
Mike

If you leave it blank when you use A1 with Outlook:

The A1/Outlook window has a dropdown for choosing the Case Activity - However it starts blank.

If you don't choose something it gives a message - Something like "Case Activity not found... Message did not post".

Right - I forgot about that. The user must select a case activity from the dropdown if it is left blank.

Dear Michael,

If you wanted All A1-Outlook emails to default to Post to Main Case activity (1) for "Category to Post to"

Would the correct code be: *-1 (asterisk dash one)?

Thanks!

I don't think there is a default at this time to post all Emails to category 1. You could set up each category individually though which should accomplish the same thing.

Thanks for the information Mike.

To confirm:

1. To have our current cases (WC, SS, PI) default ALL to #1 (main case activity): W-1,P-1,S-1

2. Even if we have this set staff can change the Case Activity category they want to post into manually.
