MS Word problems

We've recently started to have trouble with some of our existing MS Word letters. For example, the code >>, which appears twice in several documents, pulls the applicant's name only the first time; in the second instance, the code itself is what shows up. The same is true for several other commands, most (though not all) of which are taken straight from form 10626, with the rest being our own creations. In every case, however, the code is used at least twice yet works correctly only the first time.

This problem has only started occuring recently - even several weeks ago it wasn't an issue. Moreover, we haven't changed any of the forms, except for in the last day or two as we try to figure out what's gone wrong.

Any ideas?
